The signature summer food is cold noodles. Among them, Pyeongyang naengmyeon(cold noodles), which is filled with cool broth, is making me to feel cold with only imagining it. Today, I will introduce you to 'Gangseo Myeonok' Apgujeojng branch, which is famous for delivering cold noodle to Cheong Wa Dae(blue house).

The history of Gangseo Myeonok is introduced on the menu. It started in 1948 in Gangseo, Pyeongnam. It was delivered to Cheong Wa Dae in recognition of the traditional north Korean cold noodles, and was also provided during the inter-Korean Red Cross talks.

Of course, I ordered Pyeongyang naengmyeon, the representative menu. I'm a big fan of bibim naengmyeon(spicy cold noodles without soup), and I wonder how it tastes here.

There are seats on both the 1st and 2nd floors, and the 1st floor has tables in an open space, and the second floor has the space divided.

There is an instruction about how to enjoy Pyeongyang naengmyeon.

1. Never cut noodles with scissors but eat it just as it is.

2. Taste the cold noodle broth first and add mustard or vinegar to fit your flavor.

3. If possible, fill your mouth with the noodles and drink the broth.

I'll try to follow

This yeolmu kimchi and radish kimchi are also delicious. The crunchy texture and cool taste are excellent.

The Pyeongyang naengmyeon is served. It as a gentle figure compared to the colorful bibim naengmyeon.

Pyeonyuk(slices of boiled meat) is boiled very well, so it is not dry, but is chewy and juicy.

The noodles are properly cooked so that they taste savory and didn't get soggy. As explained, eating noodles and drinking the broth at the same time makes the taste more flavorful by combining noodles and broth in my mouth. It has an appetizing charm. I'm originally a big fan of bibim naengmyeon, but if I visit Gangseo Myeonok next time, I think I'll choose this Pyeongyang naengmyeon again.

Gangseo Myeonok's pyeongyang naengmyeon will make you feel cool to the brain on a hot summer day.
